Momentary Lapse of Reason.

I suppose it isn't all that bad when you are dying with someone rather than without.

'With someone' is like you 'have someone'. And, "have" is always joyful.

God Bless.

its like you forget your own pain and all you remember and feel is 'them' or 'their pain'...but i still think its better to die in loneliness...its more beautiful when you know that you have 'yourself' and that's all what matters :-) just a thought!

@KParthasarathi

I am a writer... such thoughts are what I feed off of :-).

@Surya
That completely cracked me up. I almost spilled my coffee :-). Thank you.

@Sana
That's an interesting perspective. Thank you for sharing :-).

You read my current state of mind. My boy and I are oceans apart these days, due to work/family commitments. We both die a thousand deaths every day, without each other. Very well said.

Instead of dying with or without someone(doesn't matter really once you're dead), better to think about living with someone; or the kind of death Ghalib talks about:

Mohabbat mein nahin hai farq jeene aur marne ka/
Usi ko dekh kar jeete hain jis kaafir pe dam nikle.

@ Syed Ali Hamid

That is a good point but death is inevitable and our life would have no meaning if we didnt think about death or the consequences thereof. I think death keeps everything in perspective :-)

Pyaar Ishq Mohabbat... mehboob ke liye marna maraaana.. yeh sab bas baatain hai yaar. In reality koi kise ke liye nahin marta. we keep moving on in life only to sit down with our grandkids and remember each and every experience of life. sometimes with a smile and sometimes with a deep sigh.

i wish real life was like a hindi movie. hero heroine happily holding hands and jumping off the cliff when the bad guy catches them or they run away to jungle to start a new life away from their parents. heroine ka sharmaana aur bolnaa "mujhe daulat mahal nahin chahiyay daddy! uska pyar hi mere liye sab kuch hai. uske dil main ek nayi duniya basa loongi!" No tensions no worries about education, job, money, family. Just two of them living happily in a small hut by the river. he he.

Melancholy to some, heartening and so completely human to others... amazing what a variety of reactions a single image or thought/idea can elicit.

Personally I'm inclined to agree with you.

Nice post. Cheers.

Even death is comforting when we are not alone.

Whatever said...

I stood beside you and I held your hand.
I watched your last breath roll out and held mine waiting for the next to roll in,
but it didn't and I couldn't wait.
life burst in on me,
and you were no longer in it.
